Amritha Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) ,
a Super Specialist Hospital in Kochi is servicing 5 Lakshadweep islands
, and Shabarimala in the
state of Kerala via ISRO’s satellite network. Lakshadweep a union territory
of India is a group of some two dozen islands with a total land area of
32 square kilometers scattered over 30,000 square miles in the Arabian Sea.
In all, the Lakshadweep islands have 32 doctors to serve about 60,000 people.
Using telemedicine, these patients are now being advised by Cardiologists,
Radiologists and Orthopedic Specialists located in AIMS. |
