BUAP, Mexico: La Benemerita Universidad
Autonoma de Puebla (BUAP), a leading academic institution in Mexico for
450 years with a medical school in operation for over 170 years, is recognized
as one of the biggest medical universities in Mexico. BUAP’s Telemedicine
department provides health care and education services throughout Puebla.
Puebla is one of the largest states in Mexico with a population of over
3.5 million. The main telemedicine center is in the Hospital Universitario
de Puebla (HUP) and is supported by Hospital General de la Secretaria de
Salud, a hub clinic in Tehuacan. Currently remote medical consultations
are being conducted from Tehuacan, Libres and Chignahuapan with permanent
installations being deployed in Pahuatlan, Eloxochitlan, Tenampulco, and
San Diego la Mesa, Tochimiltzigo. The BUAP telemedicine hybrid network is
made up of private and public satellite and fiber-optic networks. TeleVital’s
VitalWare technologies allow BUAP to connect patients in Mexico and doctors
in the United States. Using VitalWare, BUAP is able to connect under served
rural towns with medical specialists located in urban centers. |
