Malavalli expects India to become a storage hub

Times, News Network

Bangalore: Storage billionaire Kumar Malavalli says the storage development in India would continue its double digit growth - at rates higher than in Europe. He said India has a "good likelihood" of emerging as a global hub offering back-up and disaster recovery services vis-à-vis the storage networking industry.

Malavalli, who co-founder Brocade Communications, was in Bangalore to announce that the Storage Networking Summit (SNS-2004) would be held for three days here from December 7. Leading storage vendors, users and resellers have confirmed participation in the event.

Mysore-born Malavalli, a storage Icon in the US, has invested in several Indian companies, including the Bangalore-based Apar Infotech the Bangalore-based Apart Infotech, Edurite Technologies and Tele Vital. Malavalli is the first ever Indian to be inducted into The Silicon Valley Engineering Hall of Fame.

He said several product-based companies are beginning to emerge in the storage area in India. According to him, many companies in different market verticals in the country have already developed storage area network (SAN) infrastructure and are now planning to expand it. The global storage networking industry is projected to grow to a size of $70 billion next year.
