Manipal Hospital forays into NCR - The Economic Times Bangalore Aug 11, 2005
BANGALORE-BASED Manipal Hospital today announced its plan to foray into the NCR market through a telemedicine alliance with Gurgaon-based Private Hospital.

Televital, an integrated ehealth and technology solutions company, will serve as the technology partner for the alliance.

Manipal Hospital’s telemedicine network is based on a server-based technology that uses a hub (Manipal Hospital) and spoke (Nodes like Private Hospital) model. Its e-health package includes tele-consultation, workshops and medical education programmes, domiciliary tele-health initiatives in housing complexes and community centres, ambulatory programmes, remote ICU monitoring and tele-diagnosis.

R Basil, CEO, Manipal Hospital & Manipal Health System, said "Telemedicine is a new healthcare delivery model that we are now using to benefit patients. For us, telemedicine is not just consultation, but a complete e-health package".

Manipal Hospital is the first hospital in the country to invest in a gamma probe to optimise treatment of breast cancer using Radioisotope Occult Lesion Localisation (ROLL).
