Telemedicine facilities for Mercara District

Mysore: Minister for Labour and Haj Tanvir Sait said telemedicine facilities would be set up at Mercera in another two months. They would be extended to three taluks of the Kodagu district.

Delivering his address at the valedictory function of All India Workshop on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for masses; conducted by Mysore centre of the Institution of Engineers. Vidya Vikas Educational Institution of and Infosys, he said that telemedicine had acquired much importance, especially in the past few years.

New look for employment exchanges
He also said, employment exchanges established during the pre-independence period, would be given a new look very soon. Policy makers, entrepreneurs and manufacturers would be taken into confidence.

Registered job seekers and demands of various entrepreneurs would be put on websites. This would assist unemployed youth to get jobs.

He stated that the day belonged to information technology. The same would help youths.

He also assured that the various recommendations made at the end of the workshop would be considered.

Minister for Planning. M.V.Rajashekaran, said that a steering committee had been formed at the Central level to review various policy issues.

As Chairman pf the steering committee, he would see to it that the various recommendations were looked into.

He added that information and Communication Technology was beneficial in agriculture and many other areas. ICT would come in handy.

He also stressed the need for bringing panchayat raj institutions in contact with ICT.

He called upon those from IT sector and Department of Space to identify the role of ICT in various sectors. Chairman of Institution of Engineers. M.N.Shivram, also listed out a set of recommendations at the end of the workshop.
