Battle Mountain (Nev.) General Hospital plans to deploy wireless bedside monitoring software from TeleVital
Inc., San Jose, Calif. The rural provider organization will use the vendor's VitalWare VMS remote bedside
monitoring system as part of a telemedicine initiative.
The application comprises patient monitoring technologies and an electronic medical records system. Battle
Mountain General Hospital will install the software on PCs on mobile carts in two of its patient rooms. The
system enables patient data to be sent over the hospital's Wi-Fi network to a central monitoring station.
The data then will be sent for review to physicians 200 miles away at Fallon (Nev.) General Hospital via a
T1 connection. The connection, called NevadaNet, is a wide area network sponsored by the University and
Community College System of Nevada. Battle Mountain General Hospital expects to go live with the system
next month.
